Have You Turned Off Your Lights?

I shall repeat my question again.

Have you turned off your lights?
Don't just do it for the sake of Earth Hour.
In fact, do it as often as you think possible.
Do you need that light on? If you don't, turn it off.
Love the planet you're living in.
I don't care if men are from Mars and women are from Venus. The fact is that the planets mentioned would not be able to support our delicate "I-need-oxygen" systems. Oh yes, if you've forgotten, we need oxygen to survive. Not to mention water and other living things like plants and meat. How the heck are you supposed to find them on Mars or Venus. Seriously..
Okay, I'd better stop ranting now cos I sound like some deranged activist who wants to slaughter the next person who performs open burning.
And yes, I'm am sort of cheating by using the laptop during Earth Hour. See, I told you I am not a crazy activist!

Yes, turn it off..

Report-Pizzing

Third Annual General Meeting 2009
@-the-back-CLUB

The @-the-back-CLUB decided to organise a night out to town. It was all going well considering that dinner featured the lovely Italian dish, pizza. The oh-so-lovely-and-cheesy pizza set in front of 5 ravenous people was quickly devoured. However, no matter how hungry they were, they managed to save TWO slices of pizza for Yours Truly. Yours Truly was deeply touched but could not down the enourmous slices as she had an early dinner in town.

After feasting was over, club members headed to Tun Jugah. Although there was no official reason why members should be there, who cares? The trip to Tun Jugah proved to be worthy as the ever popular Popular bookstore was stocked from top to bottom with coloured papers. The only downside was that one would have to purchase 250g of paper to be able to actually purchase it.

After a fruitful purchase in Popular, members ambled over to McDonalds just to find out that they don't have ice-cream. Dissapointed, members trudged to Sarawak Plaza to find the doors of Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf wide open, welcoming them with open arms (as long as one's pocket has a minimum af a red 'agong'). It was proven that members of the club sometimes succumb to peer pressure as to choosing drinks. However, others should not worry as this is at a stage where measures can be taken before it gets out of hand. This report should include pictures of those present. So, here they are:

Thank you, Andrea =D

The club would like to thank members who took the time to join in this little 'bonding session'.

What do you get if you cross a monkey and a dolphin?

A monphin? A dolkey? A mondolkey?
Okay, this does not make sense. But these do...

The pic is not so clear but one can obviously see its a spotted lion. Or better known as a leopon.

Male leopard+female lion= Leopon!!

A male zebra + female horse= Zorse!!

Male tiger+ female lion= Liger

And a male zebra + female donkey= Zonkey!! Or the accepted term is a zedonkey.

Camel Challenges

Baby camel says to mommy camel:
Why do camels have humps?
Well son, we are desert animals. We need humps to store water. We are known to survived without water in the desert.
Okay, then why are our feet rounded?
Son, obviously they're meant for walking in the desert.
Just one more question, mom....
Yes dear?
Why are our eyelashes so long? It bothers my sight.
My son, those long eyelashes are your protective cover. They help protect your eyes from the desert sand and wind.
I see. So the hump is to store water when we're in the desert, the legs are for walking through the desert and these eyelashes protect my eyes from the desert sand....
Then what the heck are we doing in the ZOO??!!!

Watching the Sunset

Every Tuesday
We (Emily, Bol and I) would take turns to watch the sunset.

Seriously.

Maybe I should explain myself a little.

Tuesday (7.30-9.30pm) Physics in Sri Sarjana is one full class. And he insists to use that small class. That class is VERY small. Not the number of students is small, the class. That space enclosed by four walls IS SMALL.

Which translates to: First come, first serve basis. Although the class starts at 7.30pm, people come at 6.30 pm just to get seats. Unless of course, you want to sit somewhere not strategic and in the constructive interference gaze of Mr. X. Besides, he tends to target people sitting at the back. 6.30 pm just to get seats. 1 hour earlier to get GOOD seats.

I mean, since when are Malaysians early birds??

Now, we take turns to watch the sunset cos the class is directly facing the sunset. One can watch the sun slowly sinking to the west.

Romantic, eyh??

With a touch of Physics, it makes it all worthwhile to sit and watch the sun set before you endure 2 hours of pure, 100%, hardcore PHYSICS.

What-the-FISH!!

The title is not what is seems to mean and it does not mean what it seems.
*slaps self* Stop ranting!!
Okay, where was I? Oh right, FISH!

We had a rather interesting debate today.
The motion: Fish are friend not food vs Fish are food and pets.
Emily amd I were for the 'Fish are food..' motion and boy, did it get interesting.
I think our group (Emily, Mei Theen, Olivia and I) were the most uncouth, uncivilised and the loudest group.

-It was an informal debate-

Oh, and I accidently supported the opposition by saying "Fish are boring pets". Technically it wasn't supporting them, just contradicting myself.

Seriously, don't you think living in a fish bowl is kinda depressing?

I bet Lip Yi would come up with a more detailed description of our debate and I'd just plagiarise some parts and claim it to be mine. It is again technically mine since I said it! But then, it wouldn't be fun to read something a person wrote about herself, right?? I mean, talk about blowing your own horn (or tuba/clarinet/trumpet/trombone/flute etc..).
Once again, I'm ranting. Sue me.

Update: Olivia and I were arguing about whether or not fish have feelings.

Olivia: They have feelings!

Me: No they don't! (at this point, I was thinking of mutual feelings and not senses. I mean, they obviously have senses, right?) They reproduce by external fertilisation. (I prefer not to use the 'S-' word)

Olivia: Just because they don't have sex-....!!

A unanimous gasp was heard across the classroom and the judges peng-ed

Thank you, Lip Yi =D and yes, I admit that I plagiarised this part of the post from hers. In my defense, those were MY words.

Another Report

Second Anual General Meeting 2009
@-the-back CLUB
The @-the-back-CLUB organised its second meeting on the 11th March 2009 at 12.45pm. The reason for this meeting was to look for The Perfect Place to have the annual @-the-back-CLUB dinner (or lunch..or brunch..or whatever). Among the places suggested were Pizza Hut, Hartz Chicken, Starbucks, Secret Recipie, Sushi King, Curry House, Hilton and a few others which I forgot.
Hilton was crossed out almost immediately because of its beautiful price not to mention overly posh place. Curry House was also discouraged because Maxine would probably cry her eyeballs out, and I mean cry her eyeballs out. Sushi King got a 'no-vote' as their service is so bad, one could actually build a freaking mall just waiting for them to get your order on the table. In my opinion, pizza-ing could do a LOT to your weight.
The members also had a small caking session thanks to the 'mak cik kantin' who graciously provided moist chocolate cake for a small fee of 40 cents each.
The meeting was adjourned at 1.15pm although no decisions were made. It was considered the first fruitless and futile meeting. The club would like to thank all members present during the meeting and wish all members good luck in their upcoming debate session about fish.

Romoe and Juliet?

This is like a real super-sad play about this dude Romeo and this dudette Juliet. They had names like that ‘cause it was like the real old days, before MTV. So, no one had cool names like Heather or Brandon or Shawna. They all had really geeky names like Benvolio and Tybalt and Mercutio.

Anyway, these two families, see, the Montagues and Capulets, really hate each other. I mean, they can’t even walk down the street without thrashing on each other, ‘cause, like, that’s what happens right at the beginning.

This dude, Sampson, who works for old man Capulet, he sees this other dude, Abraham, who hangs with Montague, and he bites his thumb. I mean, like, Sampson bites his own thumb, not Abraham’s thumb, which in the old days was like saying “Your mama!” And Abraham says, “Are you dissing me?” So they start beating down. But it gets broken up before anybody’s really messed, you know. And the Prince — he’s like the principal of this whole town — he says, “Yo, next time you people get in each other’s face, I’m gonna twist someone’s head round so their cap’s on straight.”

So then Juliet’s old man decides he’s going to have this party. But he has to send this servant out to tell everybody, ‘cause, like, they didn’t even have phones then. But this servant is, like, dyslexic or something, and he can’t make out the names on the list, so he, like, stops someone to help him read it. Duh! It’s Romeo.

So Romeo looks at the list, and there’s all these names of dweebs, freaks, jocks, stoners, nerds, goobs and motorheads. But then he sees Rosaline’s name. She’s this chick he thinks is really fly, so he decides to crash the party, which is like, easy, see, ‘cause it’s a masquerade party.
Meanwhile, Juliet’s mom, she’s trying to fix Juliet up with this guy named Paris. Is that a dorky name or what? I mean, I thought Dweezil and Moon Unit were weird.

Romeo goes to the party even though he’s totally bummed because he loves Rosaline and thinks she, like, doesn’t love him. But Romeo’s homey, Mercutio, tells him, like, “Chill. Just go. Party down. There’s going to be some fly babes there.”

So Romeo gets to the party and starts checking out the chicks. He sees Juliet and he goes, “Who is that babe?” And she goes, “Who is that hunk?” Which is bad, see, ‘cause, like, Shakespeare already said they got “fatal loins,” whatever that means, and they’re “star cross’d,” which means both of them are Aquarians, I think.

But that don’t stop them. So Romeo starts hitting on her, and they hold hands for a while and he goes, “O, then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do.” And he kisses her, and it’s, like, super rad, I mean totally awesome for both of them. But then Juliet’s nurse pulls her away, ‘cause, like, in the old days they really had a cow if they caught you sucking face.

Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt, sees that Romeo is trying to ease in on a Capulet, even though he’s a Montague, so Tyb says, “Yo, hand me that sword.” But Juliet’s dad says, “Be cool.”

Then it’s curfew or something ‘cause everybody has to leave, but when Romeo is heading for his pad, he says, “Check it out, dudes, I’m gonna bail,” and he jumps over this big fence into Juliet’s garden. He’s like creeping in the trees and he looks up at Juliet’s bedroom and goes, “Who left that light on?” or something like that, and she goes, “O, Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?” And it’s like, duh, ‘cause he’s standing right under her balcony. But maybe she took her contacts out to go to bed.

So he goes, “Do you want to get married?” and she goes, “Yeah.” So they do. . . only in secret.
But then, like, right after this, Juliet’s pushy cousin Tybalt shows up again and starts getting in Romeo’s face. See, he doesn’t know they’re married ‘cause he didn’t get an invitation. And, like, he should be happy, because he didn’t have to buy an electric tin opener or anything. He wants to kill Romeo. But Romeo won’t fight him, so Tybalt jumps in Mercutio’s face, and him and Mercutio start thrashing on each other. Mercutio gets killed, so Romeo kills Tybalt, which is, like, dumb, ‘cause now him and Juliet aren’t gonna get any wedding presents. Then the Prince exiles Romeo, which is, like, being grounded but like in a whole nother state or something.
So Romeo and Juliet have to split for a while. Juliet goes, “O, think’st thou we shall ever meet again?” ‘cause, like, some guys act like they like you a bunch at school but then they never phone you. You know?

Romeo leaves and Juliet is really bumming ‘cause her old man wants her to marry Paris. Duh! She’s already married. But her parents are still planning a wedding, so it looks like she’s going to get an electric tin opener one way or another, or maybe even a microwave. But then this priest guy gives Juliet this stuff to drink so that everyone will think she’s, like, dead until Romeo can get back. But this stuff is so good that everybody thinks she really is dead, and, they put her in this tomb thing, you know.

Then Romeo dreams that Juliet has found him dead, and even though he’s grounded in another state, he says, “Later. I’m outta here.” He takes off to see Juliet, but he stops, like at a pharmacy, for some poison. So he misses this letter that the priest sent that says, “Juliet isn’t dead. She’s, like, sleeping.”

But then Romeo sees Juliet and he goes, “Ah, dear Juliet, why art thou yet so fair?” ‘cause, you know, if she was dead she ought to be green and starting to smell funny. And that totally bums him, so he takes the poison. Duh! Then you’ll never guess this part. She wakes up and sees Romeo and goes, “O happy dagger!” and kills herself.

I mean, are these people serious or what?
