Always One Foot On The Ground

And suddenly Christmas is around the corner and yes I am in the mood. But no, I am not in the mood for buying Christmas presents. As strange as it may be, I have reached the age where presents seem meaningless. Yea it's nice to get things from people but do we really need a reason to buy things for the people we care about?

Or maybe I'm just getting old. And boring.

As I sit and ponder on life's greatest mysteries, I am also staring at the load of underwear my aunt put on the table so it can dry under the fan. Yup, my family's a little weird like that. But that's what makes them mine -cue sappy music-

I have been viciously attacked by mosquitoes recently and I have lovely raised bumps all over. However, I think the ones nearer to my palms are the result of a severe food allergy. I have yet to find a cause but it does look like that time when I randomly was allergic to eggs. And of places chosen by the mosquito, they include my elbow, under my foot and and my thumb. Really mosquito? REALLY? My thumb?! Do you have any idea how hard it is to scratch the underside of your foot? It's pure agony, I tell you.

I cannot believe I am ranting about mosquito bites now. I have officially gone insane. Either that or I have lost my flair for writing good blog posts.

For To Seek A Warmer Sky

The third semester has come and gone and I have never felt so hollow. There was no spark. Not even a flicker. Maybe it's the fact that we've gotten so complacent with everything and that is not a good sign, I think.

As much as I feel sometimes time passes a bit too fast, there are times where I feel it's moving much like a snail's pace. Last week- slow. This week- I wondered where the week went. Anyway, a few days ago, my friends and I thought it would be a great idea to volunteer at a local zoo. Well, things didn't exactly turn out the way we expected it to be but it was an experience I think I'd never forget. And I just had a lightbulb moment. I shall talk about lessons learned that could be applied in real life.

1. Politics.
As much as we don't want to get involved, there's always politics involved in whatever job one may do. If the superior is in a (pardon the language) shitty mood, then he would treat his subordinates in the same way and it's like a domino effect. You know they say don't bring your personal issues to work? Truth be told, you're allowed to do that only if you're the boss. It doesn't matter if your personal life is affecting your mood for the day because you're the boss.

2. Discrimination.
Deny it all you want, there will always be discrimination in the workplace. Best part? People from the peninsula don't really like people from the east. Even better? People from the east are not doing much to quash that stereotype. Oh well, life goes on, doesn't it?

3. Girls get the perks.
Well, that is only if your superior is male and like women. Somehow they are sort of wired to not give women easier jobs. Or if they see a woman struggling (even if they're pretending to struggle), they immediately rush to assist them. I am serious. Although I'm guessing with the current issue of the lack of chivalrous men and sexism, this is not really a big point. But maybe in Malaysia it still is. Not that they respect women much and I'm pretty sure some comments could be viewed as sexual harassment.

I think those are the three most valuable lessons I learned in my short stint working with the animals. So that's all folks (:

Don't You Remember?

In a moment of depression and stress, I took a pair of scissors and gave myself a fringe. Can't say I'm very proud of what I did or my fringe for that matter but hey, if the Pharmacy thing doesn't work out, I always have hairdressing to fall back on (:

Then the circle of your friends will defend the silver lining

Reading an article about jobs people don't really want, one listed caught my eye. A mortician. It's not a particularly hazardous job but they face a question of their mortality every single day. Do they question the afterlife as much as everyone else? How do they deal with mourning family members? How do they feel when they face a child lying there- lifeless. Do they question God and His plans?

I have somehow managed to one again exceed the limit on my broadband. And that it rather embarrassing. Which brings me to my weakness. Like Kyrptonite to Superman, my weakness would be strong and fast internet connection. I don't even know what I do online but there's always something to do. New websites to check out, new videos to watch and when I'm bored, there's always catching up on television shows. Although I'm pretty sure all of this is going to bite me in the arse somewhere along the way. I'll be waiting.

Promise me, you'll leave the light on
